I just saw this on the news.Fair enough they shot him but 6 times in the chest is fu***ng ridiculous.Between the 3 of them they could have backed off and thought off something else to do.Trigger happy cops i say!

Well, I don't see why it needed to be a chest shot. And 6 rounds!!! I don't give any credibility to those who say when you have adrenaline going you can't take a limb shot. I've seen police shoot in a lot of comps and many of them were obviously never trained properly and should not be in control of a weapon.

I highly doubt the kid had to die. I did hear they used pepper spray and it didn't work but there are other options.

Poor fella and his relatives.

I'm not sure that's an accurate description. As I understand most Police are trained to fire off two shots in quick succession, a "double tap on the trigger" as they say. The first round stuns the aggressor while the second stops them.

With three Police officers firing simultaneously, they would have let off their second round before they knew their colleague had fired.

3 officers, 2 rounds each = 6, I would say they probably did as they were trained to do, but only the coronial inquest will determine if it was correct Police behaviour.

I don't think you should say that - you weren't there!

I wasn't either, but from what has been said by the police themselves, and disinterested witnesses, it was a situation where the kid was advancing on one cop and near to stabbing him. They had run out of options.

I'm quite sure they would not have shot him if he had been in a contained situation. What cop wants Ethical Standards all over them!

As already mentioned. Those who have been trained to be in these situations are generally taught to shoot at the centre of the seen mass.
I was and it would be the natural instinct for most of us.

If you are going to pull a trigger IT IS TO KILL make NO mistake about that!

I have no problem with any one using a weapon in a justifiable situation and if that results in a death then TOO BAD. (Bad guys take a lesson!)

Lets stop the "Poor fella and his relatives" grieving. Yes it must be terrible for any "responsible parent or relative" but it is for the better good of society that dangerous individuals like this die. As usual some dogooder will now come to the party and say what a wonderful life this young man had in front of him and how he was just misunderstood or some other tripe.

My sympathy for the police officers involved for the Psychobabble Bull that they will now have to endure yet alone internal investigations etc etc.....

Why do we continually point the finger at those enforcing the law instead of doing something about the scum abusing the law. We shoot dogs that are a danger to society (well at least until someone bans that too) I see no problem in shooting people who are a danger to society.

As it has been already said, the situation escalated through trying to talk to him, a couple of cans of OC to a point where (I believe) the officers had no other choices left. From what I understand, thier training says a couple of quick shots to the middle of the biggest bit you can see (in simple terms). The outcome is a dead kid, very traggic for ALL involved. BUT!!!, the situation could have been resolved a lot sooner without anyone dying. the "15 YO Angel" could have put the cleavers down or at least not backed another human (copper or otherwise) into a life threatening corner. that adds another $0.02c to the total

I've seen blokes get pepper sprayed at work and they haven't even noticed it - they just keep punching and kicking, etc.

However, the poor old station master who was hit by accident certainly noticed it.
