That is simply not true Diana. both of your comments are very incorrect.
P Simpson 7, you in fact don't know what you are saying.

A close friend Neil was travelling along the Stuart Highway in his DII, the engine oil light came on and before he could slow up and stop, the engine had put a leg out of bed. The infamous screw on the oil pump fault.

My Phase II Range Rover, when I first got it over two decades ago came with a sticker on the brake mastervac stating that the brake fittings on this car are metric. The rest of the car was imperial. (and still is, I'll show it to you if you care to come over.)

And if you want to make a point on the other of the three comments in my original post. During a conversation at a Christmas Eve do this year, a mechanic who did his apprenticeship at a very well known Land Rover dealer in Sydney (still selling Land Rover products), made the comment that the mechanics would notice things on vehicles that needed correction under the warranty and would be told to do nothing and say nothing about it to the customer so it would run out of warranty before it had to be fixed. Hearsay yes, but 1st person.

I wasn't the one who mentioned AF.

I am now demanding an apology from you.

When I spoke to Dave Stimson about his Td5, he said the same thing. The light came on and he shut down immediately but not fast enough to avoid the engine seize.

If I didn't have Panda in my "ignore list" I may be concerned about what she has to say.

All I would comment is that don't call me a liar and I won't demand an apology.

    Hi Diana,

Sorry , I didnt mean to offend you.

but, I think your comments as typed (or at least as how I read them - the ones about the TD5 ) were misleading.

I am not doubting there have been incidents where termianl failure has occoured, but the way you wrote it was as if it was a general issue, not one offs, which is what it is.

I cant comment on the dealer quotes you made, but going back when mine was running out of Warranty, I took it in for a crank sensor issue, and they changed a few things as there were a couple of logged sensor errors, which I was pretty pleased with. (AFM and something else from memory)

Anyway, I think we (I) have dragged this off topic enough, so, sorry for offending you as that wasnt what I meant to do (I respect your obviously huge knowledge of LR's but just felt that the comments I replied too were in my opinion misleading.

Hope you have a happy new year.

    Rgds
    Pete
