Christ for people who think they know alot you lot sure don't.You tell me what car maker doesn't try to back out of trouble if something goes wrong?.I have worked with so many mechanics over the years each one with a story to tell.Do any of you know why jap cars don't rattle? silicon spray.How many times do you think things are fixed on your car that would cause a recall but are fixed as the vehicle is brought in for service.I worked on a fleet of Hino trucks that had brake bias valve failure that would only be fixed if the vehicles were factory serviced so the owners would be none the wiser,how many trucks do you think slipped through the net on that cover up?.Like has been posted LR's have there faults, guess what,so does every other make.I spent 6months travelling around oz in my then 6month old defender and all I saw was reliable jap vehicles broken down,we help a few,even met a bloke who would not accept that the Tdi had enough power to tow the Prado we had strapped to the towbar so I had to lift the bonnet to prove it,stupid a%&se still would not have any off it.As I have said many times getting a vehicle properly serviced goes a long way to happy ownership. I cant comment on the dealer quotes you made, but going back when mine was running out of Warranty, I took it in for a crank sensor issue, and they changed a few things as there were a couple of logged sensor errors, which I was pretty pleased with. (AFM and something else from memory)

Anyway, I think we (I) have dragged this off topic enough, so, sorry for offending you as that wasnt what I meant to do (I respect your obviously huge knowledge of LR's but just felt that the comments I replied too were in my opinion misleading.

i seen a D3 with your normal looking haymond reece towbar the other day that was all up and out of the way

So much nonsense is spouted by people who pretend to know a huge amount and in reality have little or no experience of any of the modern stuff.

There are obviosuly exceptions, Brian for instance who has had issues, but nowdays with easyily available diagnostic tools I would happily take a td5,6, v6, or v8 anywhere.

I would say that 95 times out of 100 that you may have problems they would be mechanical anyway.

didn't your radiator fail in the middle of nowhere........being a td5 it would be linked to the ecu;)

I never realised how willing everyone is to put other users down, i thought it would be a fun thread...

Come on everyone we are all on here for the same reason we love our land rovers, and we are all going to have different opinions and if you want others to listen to yours you will need to listen to others and respect them and if wrong stand corrected don't cower and find a way to put the correct party down. :)

I came up with the concept and Mitchell Bros turned it into reality.:D

Standard one is a plough, too low for an off road traler and you have to remove it to get at the spare.

The only solution to the dropping height is a German device costs two and a half grand plus fitting.:o
You can shorten the suspension rods to raise the normal on road height but you need to change them back when on road again.
Working on a remote system but not fully tested yet. Kit will probably retail for just over a grand.:D
