So the DII was put on a transport and shipped from Katherine to Sydney because of the lack of a dealer network.

What is unrelated to poor design in that?

All the faults mentioned are mechanical, (even the ECU caused by a faulty illconceived sealing system).
    The defence of Electronics rests.
I wish they could fix all the crappy mechanical stuff that goes wrong so all I need to take (WRT spare parts and diagnosis) on my long outback trips are my PDA with diag software and a few discrete electronic components.

I've been breaking my D1 regularly lately but until it can't repair it or have it repaired, I'm keeping it. I love it and it's irreplacable. I'm looking for another one. To try and kill.

    Cheers Rob

Or alternatively, buy an old Series.

With Isuzu's truck heritage behind it, the 1998 Jackaroo boasted the most powerful engine in its class. It was even more powerful then the bigger Toyota and Patrol Diesels. The 4 cylinder DOHC , 16 Valve 3.0L Turbo Diesel has 118KW of power and 333NM of torque.

Now if only i had that motor in my 98 D1!!!
