Everything is cheap and negotiable these days...
I just booked a holiday to the goldcoast. Rather than book over the internet I emailed a few places and found that accomodation places are desperate for bookings and negotiated a great rate for 9 nights!:D
And with car prices, given the price of cars I'm currently looking at upgrading from my D1 300tdi.
Just trying to work out to what. Looking at a very late D2 or maybe a D3. Even looking at a patrol for comparison sake.
Its a buyers market.

A friend just bought a late 04 d2 classic in great nick with only 57k on it. It's the td5 and he only paid 22. What a steal.

Looking at listing prices on ebay i was thinking it looked like prices of v8s have stabilised a bit since fuel costs dropped off again, certainly not noticed what looked like some of the panic sales of big v8s going very cheap that seemed to be going past a couple of months back.
I have not been to any car auctions since mid-November. The withdrawal of floor plan finance by the two major lenders should make a huge difference to the way most smaller used car dealers operate. They will have to use their own money, or overdraft if they have any collateral, or simply accept any terms being offered by any lenders still in the business. Most don't have any money, or any property they can, or are willing, to put up as security. Prices should drop at auction. I will let the forum know what I see.
One large scale Brisbane dealer of 34 years standing has already closed down. He is of retirement age and has chosen to do so after his floor plan financier pulled the pin. Decided to sell off his stock rather than purchase it using his retirement fund, I imagine.
Soccer mum neighbour bought a new full spec Disco V8 in 2002 for $78,000;
not so long ago she traded it for a new Kluger.
The never offroad full service history Disco with 110,000ks returned just $12,500.......
