There aren't many buyers out there(all the doom and gloom around people may not be too keen to spend up on changing cars), hence if the vehicle needs to go, the only way is to drop the price.

Great for buyers whom have some funds.

Bad for those trying to get rid of their old car.

the asking prices for various series LRs never fail to amaze me....

the D1 has truly become "the thinking man's S3" as far as a swb 4wd vehicle goes, eh?

I've found that a lot of cars are selling before the ink on the ad can dry. I've missed out on three cars in the last two weeks, all within three days of being advertised.

I know that I'll keep missing out unless I go into "arrogant smart alec mode", that is turn up with a massive wad of cash, wave it around and make a deal on the spot if its a good one. A bloke in our street bought a 1997 D1 diesel, faultless, very tidy albeit 325,000k for $3,500 [using arrogant smart alec mode].

I suppose he would have to think that he got a "good buy"...... (the former owner could equally have though "goodbye" I guess )

when you think about it, there is a lot a engineering and ability in a vehicle like that for the money that they now cost......(providing always, of course, that the new owner has some $s put aside for inevitable repairs & maintenance).

Ahhh come to Townsville, there is a bloke with a same era V8 trying to sell it for $9900, and it is not a pristine vehicle.

If I found a reasonable 300TDI for around 5K I would buy it if it was local. But as you can see I have buckleys here.

.....might have to buy a cheap jetstar flight to BNE if you want to buy one, eh??

I am told it's very difficult to sell anything at the moment.

There is an ex demo 200 series up the road from me,$78,000.Thats a $30,000 loss in 12 months.There is truck loads of 3-4 year old 100 series around for $40,000,less than half there original price. Pat
