There are still some 1 point offences in NSW - using high beam on on-coming traffic (or vehicles ahead within 200m) is one, but there aren't very many.
As for cautions - fire off a nice letter explaining your circumstances (at the time of driving) followed up by your excellent traffic record and see how you go. It's always worth a shot. I'm guessing it was a camera and a low speed - geezz those speed cameras are a load of dung:twisted:
Good luck with it mate.
Matt.
I wish I'd known about that 5 years ago. I'd finished work at 5.30 am, was going to meet a bloke to help him pick up a Rangie so was travelling on a road I didn't know. I was travelling with the traffic and got a flash for cash from a fixed camera - 67km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
Yeah, I know I should have seen the three warning signs.
That's been my only traffic offence in over 45 years of driving since I got my licence (well, for which I've been caught!) and 50 years of driving all told. I paid up.
In Brackistan we used to be able to ask for the speed camera pics, which used to cost $7.80. Don't know what they cost now.
As a result I have a collection of photos of all my cars from the last 20 years, but don't have one of the RRC with the new red body on it yet (3yrs).
I used to think that $7.80 and the fine of $130 odd was pretty good value for a good photo of my car getting driven down the road. The horizon in one pic is a little slanted but on the whole they're all pretty good.
A lot cheaper than engaging the services of a professional photographer.
cheers, DL
Hi Ron. You were acting on a noble cause - you should have been guaranteed a caution:p - i think there's too many signs and other distrations, let alone too many varying speed limits - but thats another discussion...as are speed cameras.
I remember being quite tired in the wee small hours and startled by a flash - i thought it was lightning (it was raining at the time) ...until i got the letter:twisted: Ah well, just another story.........
Matt.
See Nick it wouldn't have happened if you'd been driving a Tdi manual, bloody hoon:D.
You can get your last 5 years history off the Vic Roads site. It costs $7.80 but if you attach it to your letter, it might act as an independant "reference" for the cop to consider, it might help get a favourable decision.
