    defender turninng circle?

i keep reading about how bad the turning circle is on a 130 compared to a 110 is it that much worse, does it make that much difference in the bush. can't decide between 130 or 110 what to do?

When I got my first Defender. (I bought it off dad) I had the choice of his 130 flat tray or the 110 3 door. I decided upon the wagon, mainly because it was blue , had all the kit and was I can only imagine a hell of a lot easier to park in town.

Personally I'd go a 110. What are your plans for it?

BTW I once read in the LRO Magazine that fitting wheel spacers will improve your turning circle, not sure if this is true but an option maybe

Have the 110 and the turning circle is woefull. Only really notice it when trying to do a u-turn, parking in confined areas or trying to weave around trees getting into a campsite. Had a hell of a time recentlly in the soft sand getting into position at a campsite on Bribie Island.

Its more of a turning circumnavigation. If you've driven old Hilux's they are comparable, but had a shorter wheelbase so relatively speaking were actually worse.

You can usually improve on the factory setting by winding in the steering stops a turn or two. But the 130 is longer than a 110 and so is going to be harder to manoeuvre. Either one you will just get used to.

Well after coming from a Tdi 110 into a Td5 110 all i can say the Tdi had a far better turning circle than the Td5
Im going to try and adjust the steering stops on the Td5
The one thing i notice more is when backing my 6X4 trailer the Td5 is hell to chase the trailer when reversing

    Turning Circle?????
    A 130 is like a super tanker.

Out bush I have had the side steps hung up on tree stumps that the 110's have not come close to.

    G'day 2keen

The 110 and Defender both have large turning circles compared to a car, or short wheelbase ute, but is quite easy to get used to, the 130 will have a larger turning circle as it has a longer wheel base,so you would have to compare it with a small truck, it also has a different ramp-over angle when crossing a hump, (distance between front and rear wheels) the best ramp-over angle in the landrover bodystyle is the 90, as it has the shortest front /rear wheelbase that is why they are so sortafter for offroading, particularly in UK.

    cheers

    I go for the 130

You mite not have the turning circle on the 130, but jee can you tow some heavy loads with them mine has a Haymay reece tow hitch and is rated to 4 tons, you get use to the tuning circle and don't have any problems parking, the wife is only a short person and she can handle it no worries...
