I use mine all the time
It sits in a nice spot on the console and I can pick it up and use it without taking my eyes off the road or adjusting my driving position

I soooo hope never to see what the inside of the firewall looks like ever again. I an see why some people don't replace the heater core and just go without the heater!
Seems like were close to 50/50 on the votes.... glad to see others have pondered this too lol. Guess I have been lucky all my stereos have been within easy reach and I have generally stuck with Alpine or the asic Sony units so the controls have all been easy and simple (like me) so I can make adjustments without looking.
Now I need to learn the functions on the Icom so I don't need to lift the mic up and look at it to work out how to change things lol
The Sony unit that I've got in the Disco now came with a remote. Wouldn't have a clue where it is now - never used it.
The best stereo head unit location I've ever had was in my first RR -an early 2 door. The Pioneer head unit was fitted in the dash on the right side of the steering column. Easy for me to reach and reasonably in the line of sight, and most importantly, out of the reach of SWMBO.:cool:
See that opens up a whole new kettle of fish!
(PS to any designeers/engineers out there... how about adding a security code so that the controls can't be adjusted/changed/turned off etc without the pin first being entered!)
