Already in the low to mid 30s for most of Sydney @0945 so I suspect it wont be.
It's been mid-high 30s for the last week and forecast for the same for most of next week.

Only saving grace has been a few thunderstorms, but then we had a lightning started fire in Royal on Wednesday as well .

    This doesn't look good:

Fire Update: Dingo Road (Shoalhaven) 24/01/2009 14:03

Ground crews are continuing to attack the fire today, which has now burnt about 1200 ha of bushland in the Budawang National Park, approximately 30 kilometres north-west of Batemans Bay.
There is no property under threat at this time. Aircraft have been grounded due to strong winds in the area.
Overnight, firefighters have been carrying out backburning operations however they have been hampered by light showers.
Today, the fireground may be subjected to adverse weather conditions. Winds from the northwest are expected to increase before a southerly change later. These conditions are expected to see an increase in fire activity and may put containement strategies under pressure.
At this stage, the fire is continuing to burn north of the Kings Highway and east of the Western Distributor.
The Western Distributor is closed to all but residents and emergency vehicles. The Kings Highway remains open however motorists should check www.rta.nsw.gov.au or call 132 701 for latest conditions. Motorists using the Kings Highway should exercise caution, especially when driving through smoke.
The fire started on Tuesday 20 January during a lightning storm in the area. At 0600 on Thursday 22 January 2009, the fire was declared a section 44 bush fire emergency, meaning more resources are available for the firefighting effort.
A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Illawarra/Shoalhaven district for Saturday 24 January 2009. For information on Total Fire Bans, please click here.

Would be interesting to see how last nights storms affected the area, the radar showed a reasonable band of rain across the area. No doubt enough to bugger up any back burning, but not put the fire out of course.

Braidwood is reporting 27 deg, 20%, westerlies at about 45kph - not sure I would want to be trying to put that backburn in across the eastern side.

Bit better conditions here at the moment

    Dubbo 4pm

    37.8C
    14%
    WSW 24-37kph

At the house here it is 41C on the southern verandah, about 30C in the house.

And no fires reported. Wind has dropped quite a bit from this morning and early afternoon when we had gusts to 50kph, but the humidity has halved since then too, as the wind went from W to WSW.
