roof spotties - cool and useful

i must admit i've only driven a rally car with these pod lights and nota rangie... and visibility was superb and turned the 'road' into day.

i suspect, now that i think of it, the benefits of having roof spotties will give a broader view... when there is essentially no road to speak of... ie in dunes, where there simply is no road.

my roof spotties hang off the rear of the roof rack pointing out the back of the vehicle for fishing/camping and not driving. might be worthwhile setting them up to be fixed to the front as well.

good thread... i'll jump back in my box now.
    Youre spot on!

    Being a 4WD site,
you really should not bring in the BANANA B&S ute, in to this.
    - most time there not wired up.
GREAT off road, but I draw the line at using them on the road.
maybe, just maybe way out west.

If you want them and like them, put them on

I don't like them, so i don't have them, simple really

Besides they would last 5min on my Disco, we do a lot of exploring side tracks, these tend to be overgrown

    Wow! What a great response!

Well after a pretty evenly split response, I think I will go ahead and put a pair in the centre section of the roof rack. I think I will make them easily removable with the rack and only use them for trips.

That is the R.M.Williams emblem. Can't get much more Australian than that. There certainly were breeds of cattle in Australia that had impreesive spreads of horns, matbe not as exaggerated as the stylised RM emblem, but not far off. Pastoralists have mostly phased them out in favour of Bos Indicus breeds, and the brucellosis/tuberculosis eradication campaign pretty well saw the end of the older breeds, at least in the big cattle raising areas of the far north.

Yep as Brian says there are longhorn cattle in Australia, the Moree Narrabri area is longhorn country, has been for donkeys, but as brian says they are not as popular as they used to be, from memory they are Brahma crossed with something here.

Yes they work and work very well especially when it's dark.... You have them spread to light up the sides of the road and the dead spots around the main driving lights. You see alot more eyes looking back at you with all the lights on. Also they are switched seperate to the other driving lights and protected within the top bar of the ARB roof rack.

    Works for me.

    Cheers

    George.
