I did this on the Patrol recently with the front diff.
In a rush, opened the drain, then tried to open the fill plug, after preaching never do it in that order...:whistling:
I thought the breaker bar was going to round out the plug, it was touch and go......:oops2:

The particular drain on the LT77 I couldn't remove is the big nut with a mesh filter behind it. The breaker bar was flexing a lot. I have broken at least two breaker bars in my time, like I said, I am a big boy :D.

Worst of all, I was so flagged after all that effort that I forgot I had a can of that bolt freeze spray in the cab that probably would have done the job nicely.

Full of Syntrans, very nice, shift already a bit smoother.

Had to take a long rest halfway through, even with two pint-sized helpers.

the trick i found was to get a hi-lift jack if you have one and open it up till its about as wide as the chassis rails, put it in between and get a foot long bar and just open up the hi lift after all your bolts are undone, it will only move (the bar) a few cm's but it will make the crossmember fall straight out

this is definately easier as a 2 person job but can be done by yourself
