Dangers of leaving fan and airconditioners on

Just thought I'd remind everyone not to sleep with their fan or air-conditioning on overnight, because "an electric fan chops up all the oxygen particles in the air leaving none to breathe".

Not as far fetched as it seems, in the USA, authorities were finding whole families dead. It turned out to be because of fans in clothes driers and frost free fridges and some rotating air vents on roofs were causing a slight interior air pressure drop, because houses nowdays are very well sealed.
What caused the deaths was Carbon Monoxide poisoning from Wood Heaters and gas and oil furnaces, most wood heaters are loaded up with wood and the air intake closed down so as the fire would still be burning in the morning. Many oil furnaces are turned down to their lowest setting as well, overnight. What was happening was the fumes going up the chimney or flue were cooling down and rising very slowly, with the Dryers and frost free fridges fans and rotating roof vents causing a slight pressure drop the cold outside air travelled down the chimney or flue and forced the fumes back into the house, through the fire's air inlet, helped by the aforementiond fans. Some states in the USA have legislated that Carbon Monoxide Monitors and Air pressure monitors be installed in homes with wood heaters and oil and gas furnaces, Believe it or Not, Regards Frank.

    I am.

But on a serious note, Russia did initially ban the Microwave due to what it does to the food and the flow on effects. Mind you, thats all probably minor stuff compared to Chernobyl

Sounds VERY far fetched - any proof??? (I believe the part about the CO monitors, but the "whole family" deaths????)

Yes I'll see if I can dig it up, I have had to put most of my documents in storage, I think they were USA EPA docs. that I used in submissions to NHMRC and the NEPC, should be able to find the web-site, Regards Frank.
