LRX

To be honest i think i had the ability to outsell the FL2 if marketed towards the 'green' inner city type. Personly i wouldn't buy one because i don't think its a very practical vehicle. However the diesel-electric drive train does show promise and would be very interested to see a version adapted to either the rangy or D3.

Apparently the marketing strategy is to focus on this smaller hybrid vehicle whilst taking the Range Rover up into Bentley price territory.
There has been no clear answer as to the future of the D3 or RRS.
The defender is to go.......without any statements as to what may replace it (if anything )
With the new USA pollution and fuel economy laws about to be implemented none of the existing Land Rover (Ford/Jaguar) engines have much future.
One result of present economic and climate concerns will be a rapid and radical change to automotive technology and car maker viability.
Land Rover and Jaguar ( and others ) will be lucky to survive ! Their main legacy may well be implementation of their technology to models for the domestic Indian and Asian markets and licensing to third party manufacturers.
The western world (us ) may well just have a two model lineup.

I wouldn't buy one - to me, Land Rovers have ground clearance, offroad ability, load carrying ability, character, slab sides, little round back lights, Alpine windows, poor door seals, gutters that crack, gaps in doors...I can't see this thing filling my criterion.

With the exception of the green bit, it sounds like you've just described everything that also fits the BMW X6 --- and I've seen more of those than I ever want to!!

Amazing!!! you seem to know an awful lot about the pro's and con's of a car that is a concept and not even released.

how do you know all these things?
Do you know for sure that its not fast?
Do you know for sure that it can't off road (although looking at the plastic your probably right but still thats only me speculating) it is supposed to have terrain response, hill control....etc

Its small but so what......thats one of the only things landrover don't cater to the small market,

as for the environmental thing how can you say its not its made with recyclable aluminum and the carpets are made from sustainable resources
and the seat material is made out of recycled plastic bottles which is used to make the suede like material I believe.....and the car runs on part electric:eek:

I think good on landrover for looking a head, some may only thing its a half hearted effort in regards to the environmental side but at least they are doing it......:)

Its my opinion that the car is good looking, and it is....looks like a futuristic baby sport to me.

it sit only 4 people.....mahhhhhh it does it in style I would have one in a heart beat!

To answer an earlier question: "Why?"

I think they look as sexy as hell and it would make a perfect car to use as a family runaround.

Currently, we use our Freelander as the runaround so most of the time it's being driven by the missus & carrying a combination of the shopping and her work stuff. The LRX fits that perfectly.

This is no different to electronics on diesels,people carry on like it's scarry stuff that will leave you stranded but like the LRX you have to get over it as the days of simple cheap cars is over.LR are doing what they did with the Range Rover,paving the way of future. Pat
