I work from home, and use Telstra phone and Internet. I am online nearly all the time and it is very good. Hardly ever have any problems.

I currently have ADSL2 and they came round the other day to tell me they were upgrading it to ADSL2+

Dont use VOIP phone but should work fine.

I have had VOIP for probably 5 years now on Telstra Cable and the reliability has been very good. Because it's cable I don't need a land line and have been living here for 3 years and never had it connected. My highest phone bill from memory has been $25 and that's because the wife talks to Canada for 5 hours a month but at 3.5 cents/minute I'm not complaining.

Even with my cheaper phone bills I've saved about $1200 on line rental alone since moving to VOIP.

I still have a normal phone number though and often get called by people trying to get me to move to Optus, Telstra or whoever. When I explain that I don't have a land line and this call is going through the internet they often don't believe me.

The poll above is almost meaningless. It will not give an answer to the question you are asking. The results can not define if the people on the individual ISP's have good or poor service all we know is which providers are used.

I'm on Optus@home cable although I think it may now be called Optusnet and have an occasional use dial-up account linked to the cable account. Download speeds have reduced as millions of new users have taken up the service, however I rarely have an outage but emails can sometimes take a week to get to the other side of Sydney. It seems that Optusnet gets blacklisted and the distal server regects emails from the Optusnet servers.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Perhaps, then again people post comments about their providers and the poll indicates the percentaje of people that are using each provider.
I guess that if the user did not changed the provider is because is happy with it.

I use Exetel for Internet and Phone. In 2 and a bit years I've had one downtime of about 1hour, which was very well advised several weeks before hand, and then closer to the time. However I would only recommend them to someone who knows what they are doing as their technical support are online forums.

I would switch to VOIP but currently I need a fax and can't be bothered with the hardware. But I only pay $65per month and get line rental and 48gig Off-peak, and 8 gig Peak.

Optus cable. No real dramas but dont use VoiP because my wife is too conservative to do it. Doesnt trust the idea of not having a land line.

That and the fact I wouldnt have the slightest idea how to go about it.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
