No, just as a leisure activity.
Although some people might think there is nothing leisurely about competing in a 100 mile race (which I did twice) a 110 kilometre race (which I did four times) or a 120 kilometre race (which I did five times) and dozens of 20 to 40 kilometre races.
I hope your problems are as easily solved as mine were. It basically just took a bit of a rest and a bit of a change to the way I did things.
Can you learn how to cut right handed?
Might be a silly question, I was able to, took a while to get skill up again.
If you can swap some of those repetitive tasks over to the other hand you can take a rest with the other.

I had the same problem, numbness in the palm, pinky and ring finger, turns out is was RSI, took it easy at work (electrician) for a while and all is good, spoke to my doc about it thinking it was carpel tunnel and he said that the numbness from that is in the thumb and 1st and 2nd finger.
Actually it could have been the other way around, its been a few months
mmmmm..mine is what he calls cupital tunnel / ulnar nerve entrapment ....its a bit different to carpel tunnel...so yours may have been that Ive had the numbness continuously for at least three months now ...whithc the doc seems to find worrying ..
mines been on and off for a couple of years:(
I had similar, but with extreme pain in left forearm and fingers, ended up being a pinched nerve from the neck.
It was a Chiropractor that was able to put things back into place to stop the pain, although I have never lost the slight numbness in finger tips over the last 2 years.
Try a Chiro, they have certainly opened my eyes to a few things that happen in the body.

Sorry to hear that mate,
I'm not a doc, but the symptoms you describe, (i.e. numbness, tingling, and burning pain) are all symptoms of a compressed nerve. The affected areas you mentioned (i.e the pinky and (I'm assuming the pinky side half) of the ring finger are supplied by the same nerve (the ulnar nerve).
It splits off into two at the palm just below the wrist, so your compression could be anywhere from the wrist upwards. I runs from the top of the palm up through the wrist around the inner back of the elbow up the inner back side of your arm and into the shoulder.
The most common compression places are at the wrist (carpal tunnel) and the elbow (cubital tunnel) & are usually due to irritation / overuse / awkward sleeping position (overextended) etc.
How does the back of your hand feel above the pinky and half the ring finger? Do you get pins and needles there as well, or just at the palm side?
If yes, most likely to be cubital, otherwise could be either.
EDIT
Mate, just read the additional posts saying you're a chef... How high is the cutting surface (comapred to your height), and more importantly, which position is your hand in when you're chopping?
Cheers
