    BFGs harder as they age

Has anyone noticed that BFG all terrain type seem to get harder and harder as they age?

a good idea if you afford it is to buy a set of tyres about 12 months before you need them. store them and put them on when ready to use. a lot of larger transport companies do this. they believe it gives them better tyre wear and longevity

and whats the effect of the hardening? no grip on bitumen? no rock climbing ability? sliding in the wet? just interested to know...maybe the tyre companies should know too, with all their bragging and slagging that goes on....I was at Parklands yesterday and spoke to 2 tyre reps and I wish I hadnt, they told me everything I had been doing for over 35 years of driving was wrong.....yet.....I have never had a tyre problem....never.....they reckon I bullsheeting them

    I would think so,,

    but not "NO"
    just less,,

its why soft qualifying tyres only last this >l l< long,,
    terrific grip, but short life,,

    its all a compromise.

I was watching something on 60 minutes ( I think ) about tyre vendors selling older tyres.

Apparently it is recommended tyres more than 6 years old not be used.

There are some vendors found selling tyres older than that, and it has been attributed to a number of accidents in the US.

I'm wondering when the insurance companies will start looking at date codes on the tyres after an accident. There is a manufacture date code stamped in every tyre. Worth considering if you're bying new or second hand tyres.
