Not that ive used tyre pliers , But im very happy with the R&R Beadbreaker and ive used it heaps;)

I'm another "Beadbreaker" user. They will allow you to work at a convenient height. Not sure if tyre pliers will work that way

Tyre pliers require brute force and the wheel on the ground, whereas R & R is just a turn of a spanner and can be used on a table at a comfortable height as Bushie has shown;)

I've evaluated all three systems.

Tyrepliers; most versatile, but hardest to use. Almost impossible for some hard-on beads with a single person.
R&R; works very well but not on most alloys, better for steel rims with a deeper dish
Piranha TARS; as versatile as Tyrepliers, nearly as easy to use as R&R.

However, cheapest way is just to use a hi-lift jack or the Defender jack.

Do not drive over the tyre to break the bead as this damages it.

What about a smear of silicone around the bead, then lift an edge and peel it off after the trip. though you'd have to do it the day before so it cures neatly. If it works, it would save headps of time and energy.
