RMP is right - this site is not a democracy, it is not "public" per se. legally it is like we are sitting in inc's shop and if we all sit around all day moaning about the shop next door eventually the shop owner next door will be less than happy and go after Inc, not Inc's "customers" who may well be the only ones who dislike the shop next door.

Don't forget when you go home, Inc still has to live and work next door to his unhappy neighbour. You do not.

Go yell abuse at the other shop in the street or wear a sandwich board marching up and down in front of his premises handing out leaflets discouraging people from going there.... most of us wouldn't consider doing that I reckon, but for some reason it's ok to do it behind a keyboard?? I don't get it. move on, don't make the same mistake again or take the compliant to the small claims tribunal. If you have a leg to stand on, you will win.

    FYI

i have always had this rule in place from day one.

it was here long before the place ever contemplated the idea of advertising and sponsors or needed them for that matter.

it will never be allowed here because i have no interest in getting embroiled in any such matters and it is too open to abuse.

it applies to every business not just sponsors or advertisers.

and i have copped major chunks of crap over it over the years from both sides but it will stand as long as i run the show.

as has been mentioned, it isnt a democracy. i have a set of rules that i am prepared to operate in and i try to apply those rules as fairly and evenly as i can.

the volunteers that donate their time and skills to manage the place on a day to day basis do so within a difficult to manage set of guidelines as many people are constantly trying to move the goalposts a little their way.

AULRO is the sum of it's users. you get to make of it as you want, but you must follow a few simple rules that help ensure the place will still be here next time you try to log in.

I think that just about sums it up.

If WE want this site to continue and prosper (memberwise) then we have to abide by what ever rules Inc sets up - the democratic part is we are free to leave if we don't like the rules.

I can assure you if I was running the site and comments by people put my livelihood/home/family wellbeing at risk the site would vanish real quick.

Even if you don't like the rules at least accept them or don't let the door hit you on the way out.

If people want a forum where anything goes - no rules, use a server in some Eastern European country that has no censorship or copyright etc. etc. laws.

That said, I am very happy the way this site is run. A good compromise IMHO.

    Just quickly...

I believe there is no such thing as negative feedback.

If I ever leave any member of this forum unhappy for whatever reason, please feel free to contact me.

    I appreciate all input.

You guys take the internet too seriously

IMHO this thread is utter Twonk. I agree with Tombie, air your dirty laundry with the person or company involved. No feedback and sulking like a tool is much worse than negative feedback to a reputable company. You cannot please everyone in this world, what is good for me may be shyte for you.

There is telling it like it is, and sarcasm these are totally different complete slander, IMO, I pity the fool who cannot differentiate.

i now understand why though, things are censored and will say no more on the subject in public

I'm with you on this one Jason, in that it would be helpful to have a completely open community feedback forum. However, I also understand the legal reasons it can't be done.

I don't necessarily agree with the "if you don't have anything positive to say, don't say anything at all" as that can give a false impression of a good reputation.

Case in point, I took my car to a what I thought was a very reputable Land Rover mechanic in Perth, as everyone on the forum was full of praise and nobody had a bad word to say about the place.

I completely cooked my V8 as a result of their work and subsequent advice (very long story - starts to get interesting here if anyone's wants to follow up), some of which may have been avoided if I didn't have a false impresion of the shop's reputation.

Nehow, the experience set me back several thousand + a lot of my own work / time / patience...

... lol... and if anyone wants to know I'M A BANANA that did it, PM me!... ... typo, !

OK it was me, but sure made me feel better!!!
