taff the rule stands for ALL businesses and companies not just sponsors of this site.
believe it or not it comes with repercussion to the site.....its easier to censor a post then to be threatened with a law suit
I've been speaking to a few people lately who have either had post's deleted or received warnings about posts regarding company's who sponsor this site.
the general feeling is that if someone sponsors this site then you are not allowed to say anything derogatory about them, wether it be true or not.
whilst i understand the need for the sponsorship money to help keep the site running, surely those that use it would take preference and be allowed to share their woes and name and shame those that'll try and rip you off.
if these people were allowed to speak freely of their encounters, then it would save others of falling the same fate, which in my mind is almost exactly what these type of sites represent.

To right Jason, they should HTFU and take the critasisim and learn from it and improve where they can.![]()
Hi Jason
I have as a moderator sent warnings to members over posts that are a gripe with dealings with WA Landrover Specialists.
Other moderators have also done so in their states.
The problem is if a gripe is aired on line the person recieving the attention really has no defence, and the owner of AULRO can in this world of litigation can be held responsible for comments posted. Its not a sponsorship issue at all its more a legality issue.

dullbird and landyandy, so if a company sells dodgy equipment or a work shop over charges and dose a crap job you can't tell your mates that you should stay clear of these places.
that kinda makes sense - but surely aulro is not reponsible for what each individual post's.
let's say if i were to slate a company on here and they weren't happy with it then they'd have to sue me because i said it and not the site, but of course they wouldn't sue me because they knew they'd ripped me off - Right?
alternatively perhaps we could make a template for disgruntled punters along the lines of
i xxxxxx had so and so work done by xxxxxx , i have been charged xxxxx and they have done xxxxxxx to my car. i now have it back and have found xxxxxx wrong, after speaking with the really helpful people at xxxxxx and getting my ear chewed off because i am a terrible customer who complains, i have decided to take my business elsewhere just thought i'd let you all know that xxxx dont like bad customers.
taff,
listen to the majority, not just the ones at the bar.
in order to keep this 'club' as good as it is sometimes people have to 'toe the line'
those that you 'spoke' to may not have told you the whole story, or you havn't used your skills to check the truth in what they may have said.
i have also had posts deleted and been warned, and i am one of the earliest members of this community - and the moderators of this site were correct in doing that.
we all err sometimes.
just keep your eyes wide open and look at the whole picture.
that's what makes this site the worlds BEST land rover site, and why you and i are part of it.
Yes of course you can just via PM...and not aired on a public forum.
there was a case not that long ago back last year I think it was a guy set up a forum so people could air there problems about a phone comapny I think it was......nothing really untoward BUT that company took that forum to court for loss of earnings reputation etc etc, and pulled the poor bloke through the courts at what was going to cost over $100,000 in costs to fight the claims.
You have to be careful what you put on the net these days as there are people watching.

There you go, gripe away....

i hear what your saying harry which is why i've tried to be a little tactful. i know theres a pm network with tales of woe trying to steer people into the right directions but it gets a little frustrating to hear the same stories from different people all the time, when it might have easily been avoided and saved somebody a fortune.
i now understand why though, things are censored and will say no more on the subject in public
