    Fridays WTF!

I'll try to post a WTF thread everyday now.... I suspect I'll run out weird stuff by tonight though. Perhaps it just the whole public transport experience.

As some of you know, I was on the Country Link bus into Sydney. All belted in and the driver quite literally opens the side of the bus. It certainly never looked like a door to me! So it turns out the bus also has a lifter for wheelchair access and so thats the reason why a couple of row of seats are missing. Man in wheelchair buggy reverses onto the lifter, gets lifted up, reverses the wheelchair buggy into bus! The bus had a relatively deep corridor that ran the length so it made it impossible to 16 point turn the wheelchair rockcrawler into position.... so what happens!

I kid you not, like Jesus had just smacked this guy over the head with a saucepan... he stands up, gets out of the wheelchair buggy and then picks the back of it up off the ground and drags it into position!!!!

Not only that, he then gets onto the floor of the bus and straps the wheelchair buggy into position!

By now I'm thinking that he must be employed by Country Link and he loads/unloads the wheelchairs.... Nup. It was his! I later saw him tearing around the railway station in it where I was changing.
    Cheers

Yea I'm with you mate WTF!

I'll give you my WTF friday gripe, was out walking with the missus tonight (she's heavly pregnent) got to an intersection, did the right thing, stopped looked both ways checked it twice then procceded to cross. This A hole comes around the corner so quickly I thought our number was up. We started running for our lives (as quickly as a pregnent woman can) he manages to hit the picks just enough to marginly miss us. Then it's apparently our fault for being on his race track. Whats wrong with people now days???? Is it that cars just go fast now so we all have to be in a rush? no one want's to take responsability for their actions? It's all some one elses fault obviously!! What if he had hit us, it was a residential street he was clearly speeding but some how he would have justified his actions.

WTF I ask people.....WTF is so important that people need to drive like Fwits and take other peoples lives.............................

I haven't seen Little Britain or the skit, but funny you mention the camera because there was one at the front of the bus!

It's a funny thing Slunnie but if you take a good look at these "Lazy Fat Basted" mobility devices over 70 percent of the people that have them don't need them. But never get in front of one as they will run you down like a stray sheep.

Before you get too carried away, I would point out that not everyone who needs a wheelchair cannot stand up, or even walk a few steps. My wife spent most of the last year of her life in a wheelchair because of a terminal lung disease which prevented her walking more than a few steps without fainting, and the same would apply to anyone with this disease (PAH), any other severe lung disease or many heart patients. And there would be a lot more who would have similar problems with walking. Even on one occasion before she was in a wheelchair (and before there were buses such as you describe) on one occasion we were going to Sydney to see a doctor, and the XPT was replaced by a bus for part of the distance. I had to get help to get her up the steps of the bus - we had deliberately caught the train because it did not involve walking up steps.

John absolutely. It was an interesting/amusing WTF rather than a rant or anything untoward.

The guy sat behind me and I commented to him that it surprised me when he got up. So it turns out, he could get up and move, but he wasn't able to walk for any distance - I don't know why though. He was very chatty with the girl next to him and one of his comments to her was that it is annoying to get to the end of a footpath.... and there be no ramp off it, so he then has to go all the way back.
