two good movies with some 4wd action and war action are (play dirty) & (men in war). in play dirty they do the sling shot thing up a big hill with their military trucks. well i liked it. both movies made about 1950.
Not so Sprint, there are still several of the "Buchons" (Merlin powered Me109s) in UK/Europe as well as the USA, there are also a few genuine restored Me 109s with the DB engines flying, form what I know, they have been rescued from Russia & restored in the last decade or so.
Steve
i stand corrected, last i'd heard the one at duxford was the last airworthy one in existence, but i'm not too suprised a few have been restored, i know when i was living in the UK there was an inline engined FW190 that had been pulled from a russian swamp, and was being restored less than a mile away from where i went to school...... lets just say school became a slightly lower priority than it already was! lol
A couple of others I quite like;
The Longest Day
Glory
Schindler's List
Staleg 17
The Dirty Dozen
The Informer
Braveheart
Black hawk Down..................
oh and theres 4 ME109 flying at the moment.
:cool:DAD,S ARMY...............:banana:
Yeah, Battle of the river Plate is a great movie and based on fact.
Interestingly, The ship in question Graf Spee was named after Admiral Graf Von Spee who did the same in reverse to an english ship in the Falklands during WW1
I read that somewhere years ago.
I have seen Das Boot recently and as with all submarine movies of any quality it was brilliant. The tension in the confines of a sub is tangable, you even feel sorry for the Germans.
Gee, all these pages about war movies and no one has even mentioned Star Wars yet. :wasntme:
