Where in Tassie are you? I was looking at houses to rent - Queenstown had an awesome house for only $90.00 a week. Is that too far up?

VERY far away, it's on the West coast and is cheap for a reason. If you like rain and wind and moonscapes, that is the place for you:o Lovely to drive through and visit, but primarily a mining /working town and after this economic crisis is in full swing it'll be even more desolate:(
Having said that, it has some beautiful neighbours like Zeehan, Strahan, Montezuma falls etc etc and fantastic national parks and wilderness areas very close by:) I just don't think you would like living there:angel:

Thanks Mrs C, I had an enormous row last night on the phone to the boss, so I've resigned (think I already mentioned that in another post - sorry my brain's addled at the moment), which makes it even more urgent to find somewhere. So I'll be spending the day packing, which should be interesting. "You're not taking that ... it's mine" - I'm sure you get the picture. Mind you, if I was a bitch (which I'm not,) I could start proceedings in the Family Law Court. So I'll guess I'll just cut my losses & start again (if I can muster the strength). :(
Don't know what I'd do without all the member's help on this forum. I hope everyone sends some good vibes!
Yea, talking about Tony's birthday. Spend all lunch hour in peak hour in the city (Pitt St) trying to get him something good for his birthday. Was also going to arrange a surprise barbecue for Saturday night. But when I got home, let's just say, the reception left a lot to be desired. And seeing my birthdays are pretty well non-existent from his end, thought "stuff it". He obviously can't wait to see the back of me, so I'm no longer going to put myself out for someone who doesn't give a moneys. :(
Can't offer any specific advice about Tassie and your other woes but whatever happens, good luck. I am turning on the good vibes generator now, hope you feel them soon.
Just thought I'd better clarify ... Tony are no longer together as a couple, separate bedrooms, etc, etc. (Yea, it makes it even harder for me, but doesn't effect him in the least). Trying to hold it together, but after 18 years, it sure as hell isn't easy! Unfortunately, he doesn't give a toss & seems to him the quicker I'm gone the happier he'll be... Oh well, such is life. Maybe I'll find someone more "suitable" to my needs. (fingers crossed!)
Think I'll take up drinking ... seems to help everyone else!
Hi Panda
Sorry to hear about your situation.
The North west Coast of Tassie has a large amount of law firms both dealing with criminal and comercial (we tend to have a large amount of crooks so we need a lot of lawers).
Devonport is well worth a look if you are going to stay in the same field. If you are send me a PM and I will send you my EMail, I will be able to drop a few resumes off at various offices for you. I get on well with a few of the local Lawers and would like to help if I can.
The more you can get your resume out the better chance of getting a hit.
(Queenstown would only be good if you want to retire and collect rain water!) :D Ask JC, in the Devonport area you can grow Bananas and pineapples, the climate is very similar to QLD .

Thanks for your help Andy. At present I'm packing (what a horrid depressing state of affairs). Tomorrow I'm staying at a very good friend whom I've known since 4, then I'm flying to Tassie for a few days to suss it out. So I won't get a chance to get the resume up to speed until I get back, but rest assured, I will get it done. Would love to work in criminal law, I've always worked in litigation, contracts, properties, Leases & the like. But criminal law .... very hard to get into here, but as I said, would absolutely love to, even if it entails additional training.
Thanks.
Only just noticed this, life sucks sometimes but eventually it comes good in time, I hope everything works out for you Panda and best of luck with your move to Tassie.
As others have said it's actually cheaper to drive across than have your vehicle shipped, we were thinking of moving to Tassie as well a few years back.
Keep well, Baz, Kerry and Venesser.
