Brian, the Stage 1 is sitting at home, Myles's new toy the Disco 300TDi Auto followed me up most of these tracks but he declined on this one, he was in the cabin with me till I dropped the back wheel into a rut and almost rolled, he couldn't get out quick enough then. He's put on some beef since you last seen him, I gave him a good workout getting the recovery gear out of the back, it took 2 of us to open the drivers door so I could get out and 3 of us to close the back door.
The scariest thing about this hill is that it is so wide with no trees to stop you rolling all the way to the bottom, if you get sideways on this hill you will roll, all the way to the bottom. That's why I used the recovery gear to stop me rolling as I drove out of the rut.
If I was ever silly enough to try it again I would only use the rear diff lock, I drove into this rut because it would not steer with the front diff locked, it was extremely hard to get going in the direction you wanted, hope everything is going well over there for you and yours, Myles may be back over there after Christmas, Regards Frank.
Hey Brian its myles nah bugger taking the stage 1 up there the old 7.50 tyres just wouldnt be able to get the traction and i like my new disco to much to attempt rolling it
oh and the but crack thing at least i got an ass dads has dropped off hahaha gee i cant wait to get old
Regards
Myles
I've done that hill on the APEX rides, they still doing those rides Frank??
Oh and yes it's bloody steep Phil:eek:
I miss those rides:( last APEX ride, I did with Porky Eldridge:D
Baz.
Baz, I think the pic of the bikerider came from an Apex ride, it came off a Bike forum, Dirt Bike World, they've got big hairy ones, I wouldn't even consider it on a bike, but then again if you got sideways and dropped it at least you wouldn't roll all the way to the bottom, Regards Frank.
None of my 'big' hill pictures look anything like that one. Thats some impressive driving Frank.
I suppose the chicken track is only rated as extreme then.
Craig
Craig, there is no Chicken track, if you look closely the tracks that are visible were made by bikes so you have to pick a line and stick to it, the one straight up the middle has shaly rock ledges that would be very hard to get over, drop down one weekend and I'll take you for a tour and you can see it first hand, it's only about 3 to 4 hours south of where you are and I have a van you could kip in overnight. I wouldn't advise anyone to try the hill though, Regards Frank.
I agree, that looks like one serious hill even in the pics which normally don't do hills justice.
Very impressive drive! would be hard to keep calm going up that thing! it looks steep even in the pics! :o
:twobeers:
Good on ya mate you own that hill!
