thats a proper job in a proper S1 disco
oh by the way,,,where the bloody hell is pork chop hill
cheers phil
About 2/3 of the way up I dropped the back drivers side wheel into a large hole and almost rolled it over, as I drove forward the rollover angle got worse so I ran out the winch cable to steady the Disco as I drove out, bloody hard work setting the cable and straps up, the angle of the hill does not show too well in the pics. Had to swing slightly across slope to get to the next bit, my Son (the one with the Butt crack) and his mate Bates did some counterbalancing, in the last pic you can see the angle my son is standing at and that was at the top almost.
None of the bikes that we saw made it up and there is no way I would try it again, you have to see that slope to appreciate the steepness, very scary, Regards Frank.

It's about 10K's South of Batemans Bay (South Coast NSW), turn off Princes Hwy. just before Mogo into Runnyford Rd. (to the right, the Western side of hwy.) follow for 5 to 10 k's (not sure of distance) till you come to Ross Ridge Rd. Follow till you get to the top of the biggest hill, the Power Line track runs parrallel to Ross Ridge rd. Getting to the starting point at the bottom is pretty hairy as well, some bad side slopes to get the adrenaline going, Regards frank.
Nice one Frank, photos don't do a hill justice do they.
Looks like a helluva climb. You often don't gauge steepness from photos but on yours you can.
So did you drive down again?
And how the hell did the smashed up Ford ute get' up there? Or did it roll down from the top somewhere
Edit: Also note "world first" - Father refers to son's bum crack!Nice one Frank we'll score that up for the dad's!
They are awesome picsIt looks like one steep hill and slippery too.Good to see you having a crack at it
It would have been scary as hell having the Disco on a side slope like that.Good job getting up.

Sean, here's a Pic of a Bike rider looking back down the hill, it gives some idea of the steepness, the caption was "**** is this the only way to go".
Paul, no I didn't drive back down, it would be suicide, it's so slippery, if you locked the brakes or compression locked you would go sideways and roll right to the bottom, the Falcon ute was rolled down from the top.
SPROVER, I only got slightly sideways and it was on the edge of rolling.
Tim, the only tracks are bike tracks (ruts), there are no built up sides like on a normal track that may help when you get in trouble. When I stopped because I thought I was going to roll, with handbrake on, in Park and the foot brakes on as hard as I could press I was still sliding slowly backwards, until my Son and Sean jammed some large rocks under all of the wheels, I was crapping my self.
I have been up tracks as steep as this, but never with such deep slippery shale and large rocks, Regards Frank.
This bottom pic is looking back up to where the bike rider was looking down, just below the power line pole right at the top, it was taken a few years back, the cars are not in this pic and there was a lot more vegetation.

That's a pretty hairy looking hill there Frank - a lot worse than one we tried (and failed) to get over in a Pootrol up behind Cairns at the mine site I've been working on late last year.
I'm surprised not to see any photos of a Stage 1 flying up there too![]()
Cheers .........
BMKAL
