Yeah it's a no-no in Vic too - unless you're travelling in NSW:p

Maybe that's the Australian Road Rules, but it's an offence at any traffic light in NSW* and apparently Qld but O.K in Victoria.
* www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/fullhtml/inforce/subordleg+179+2008+pt.4-div.4-rule.40 "Rule 40: Making a U-turn at an intersection with traffic lights
A driver must not make a U-turn at an intersection with traffic lights unless there is a U-turn permitted sign at the intersection."
Addit: Oops should have read that one closer -, well at least I backed up the quote (sort of) - I just wish so many people in front of me didn't do them, Vic plates or not
It doesn't work in NSW. Officer Plod put the wrong rego number on one of my tickets so I sent away a stat. dec. saying I wasn't driving that vehicle. Plod turns up at my home a few days later with the correctly filled out ticket. :coplight:.
I was sure you were wrong Diana! (I should have learnt by now:angel:)
Checked out the Vicroads site Victoria's Road Rules : VicRoads
and sure enough, in Vic....

You can! - they even encourage you to proceed to the next intersection:eek:
How silly - Road rules should be the same in every state!
I'm just sending off my infringement, or so I thought I was.
They send you a pretty return envelope, all typed with the barcode and address, and here's me assuming its a reply paid envelope. You still need to pay for postage!!!!
**** THAT! They fine you $227 and provide a **** envelope that isn't even reply paid. WHY ENCLOSE THE ENVELOPE? It'd be easier to just use your own.
Arghhhh. Sooner this is behind me the better!
In vic we call him Snr Sgt Ritchie :coplight:
