    Camping in Innisfail

I am part of a group of seven AULRO members heading north and we are meeting up in Innisfail as the start point. We will be there for a couple of nights as this will be where we do the final tie downs, shopping, working out stuff etc.

I am looking for a place where we can setup camp. We will be self sufficient so don't need power although basic amenities would be good. Close to shops is good as we will be doing final food stocks.

Looking at the street maps and google searching I have identified two caravan parks, "Mango Tree" and "Autumn Moon". So my first question is "Does anybody have any comments about them?" As per the rules any particularly negative feedback should be PM'ed.

Second question is "Are there other less formal (ie cheaper) options?". Not that these parks are expensive but with 7 vehicles and a number of kids it adds up.

I am hoping to gather a list of options to put to the group. Right now I like the simplicity and centrality of the two parks.

Thirdly, if any Innisfail members want to pop in and visit we will be there on 30th June.

    Any information would be appreciated.

What about Wooroonooran National Park, there are 3 camps in there, Goldsborough Valley in the north end of the park, Henrietta Creek and Sth Johnstone in the south end.

Babinda Ck at Babinda; toilets for sure, showers I think, walk to civilisation, playground, safe crystal clear swimming, short drive to 'The Boulders', a beautiful spot and it's free.

    Etty Bay, if still open.
Just south of town, secluded beach. Beautiful.
Great spot after the drive north .
If Innisfail is not fixed, The Coconut Village(?) on southern entrance to Cairns is a great option.

Thanks for your responses, all appreciated.

I think the NP options are too far from shops given the main reason we are staying two nights in the area is so we can get organised and stock up on perishables.

Babinda Creek sounds lovely, I have provided info to trip leader. I suspect we won't want to change the route to go through Babinda if it means chopping out some of the back roads to Atherton. Have put in as an option.

Paronella Park only allow one night and we need two. Might be an interesting side trip on the way home.

Will call Etty Bay CP to see if they are still open.

Coconut Village is too far south given some of us will be coming in on the Kennedy Hwy.

Once again thanks for your responses.
