    Some AULRO history

I was reading an article relating to the loss of culturally important information as a result of internet sites closing down and there being no paper records. A site in the US www.web.archive.org is doing its bit to redress this.

So I thought that I would search there for aulro.com and this is what I found dated September 2002:

The front page with Inc announcing that he had just rebuilt the site after a major crash:

Look at the statistics on the forum:30 topics and 67 posts (how far have we come in 7 years)

Unfortunately not all pages are archived.

They probably didn't want you going in there and correcting all the spelling and grammar misstakes

Well there is some nostagia for some that have been here a long long time...

Pretty sure that was before me.... But I do remember Inc having to do a full rebuild...

I thought I joined at the end of 2002 or early 2003.

Still amazing to see what this place has grown to......

I just did a quick count and on the current AULRO site there are around 90 forums & sub-forums as opposed to just 15 back in 2002.

As an experienced user of motoring & motorsport forums just about since they started - I personally think 90 is too many and makes finding stuff (by which I mean stumbling across topics rather than via a search) quite hard without looking in each and every forum.

I already have my opinion, but I'll throw up the question - Is less choice a better thing in terms of forum usability?

Mmm, I recall that crash I think. How long have I been here now

REMLR is archived as well, but at a few different URL's, it was www.150m.remlr.com and a few more before that.
