Unhappy Why I can't get my projects done

This may seem an unusual thread but I am getting to a stage I think I may have to give up hope on my passion with the older vehicles..... I like them and I cant change that. My land Rovers in particular. I just cant seem to find the time to maintain them let alone build my latest Rangie up. I have done a bit to the 120 but not completed either.

Trouble is I'm trying to maintain the fleet here and work this acreage as a living.
    As you may be aware the money is not in the land anymore to employ people all the time to help with this.;

I have a great wife and two kids and need to spend more time with them as it is. Let alone some of my friends I have cut off due to lack of time

I guess something will have to give as will only get worse for the next few years I can't hope it will change as won't unless some thing drastic happens.

I don't post what I do here much but every day I'm in my own time repairing fleet or catching up. on top of the usual operations. Let alone numerous phone calls etc.

    Tony

I hear you and core business and family always have to come first.

I guess its one of those things where you need to get the drive, or make time, or give me in the 120". I really think the last option is the best. I struggle also.
    Cheers

I feel for you mate. Most of the farmers down here are saying the same thing

I was brought up on a bit of a hobby farm and love the work. If I lived in NSW I'd come work for you for free just because I enjoy it, well maybe tucker could be supplied

I'd have to say farmers would have to be some of the best blokes I know, always welcoming and always happy to have a chat. It's just a pity this is happening

Sorry mate, I hope things pick up for you soon

It should be family then business but has to be other way around or things can turn a bit sour.

I could never part with the 120". It's an awesome vehicle with a heap of charm. You are welcome to drive it some time though. I couldn't think of anything a would even swap for it As old it is still leaves the stock Nissan's and tojos off road and still rides like an ocean liner in the rough going.

My wife loves the Rangie as well so bit hard to part with either.

I guess some of the series here will have to find a new home in time.

I'm going to have to find some inspiration some how.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a farmer too (sort of - Viticulture isn't quite farming....) but there is never enough time in a day to get everything done.

If you have the space, why not lay the vehicles up for when you do get time? I have an old shed with a Kombi, a Series I and a 130 that I'm going to tackle when I retire a bit more. They are not registered, and I just run them around the paddocks once a month to keep things ticking over, so they don't really cost anything to keep.

Maybe put them up on blocks, and come back to have another go in a few years.

I think Spud is on the money mate. Why not just lay them up for a few years? It's not like you have issues with space!

One day you might decide to retire off the land and get yourself a shady 4 acres near town. Then you will have no idea what to do when you wake up at 5am each morning and you will remember those little old Landies stuffed in a shipping container on the big block.

    Chin up mate.

    A saying ...
You work to live .. Not live to work

There is 24hr's in a day .... 8 for work, 8 for play, 8 for sleep ... If you cut into any of the hours for work, play or sleep .... then you are just robbing yourself & your family

Excessive hours is a single persons game ... A family man needs to set aside 1 day a week to go on a Picnic (so to speak) .... They use to have Sunday set aside for this, with Saturday as a Hobby day

Time to get back to basics Tony

My 3 brothers + myself all USE to work large hours ... The result was dysfunctional household's ... We now refuse to crack (work) weekends, resulting in more valuable time available for the important things in life

Keep 1 project .... Stop driving / towing to Sydney .... Remember that other peoples problems are just that ... Their problem / You have your own to deal with

Now, I do know that life on the farm is a "Fulltime 24hr lifestyle" where the work never stops .... rather than just a "job" , ... But I am sure that you will be able to apply the above theories into it somewhere

    Mike
