G'day All, I bought my Engel way back in 76 (last century), it is not used on a daily basis but it is used regularly that speaks for itself, but it's your money/choice cheers Dennis:angel:

i didnt say they come out with them.......i said they desinged them lower so that they COULD fit in a holden......
the standard steel 40 litre engel was too tall to fit under the parcel shelf.....
so they came up with a lighter and lower design........
you would have got waecos in your commodores because you couldnt fit the engels......but now they are available......
when its time to renew your fleet....whether you end up with waeco or engel will most likely rely on price.......since now they both fit the required application......
oh....and i forgot to add.......i have an engel 40 litre......lives in lurch.....
has been there for the last 4 or so years.......
works great......

so is your opinion based on the fact thats its plastic only ?...
are you suggesting that the this Model is inferior than the steel mod because it not steel or on some other factors?...
cheers
i'm a little confused as well, i not sure that all of you would have the new plastic model....i have two engel's, the steel version but cannot offer much advise apart from i'm sure the quality will still be there i.e. the components
had a look today and they are much better unit than the waeco IMHO..the casing is tougher than it looks in the pic ...
cheers
Mch better than the Waeco, I have 2 a 60 litre steel version that is about 12 years old and has not missed a beat. Have had to replace one latch that got squashed and a 27 litre plastic steel version to fit in the Stato boot. Personally foe longetivity I would go the steel version. I have not seen many rust badly even 20 year old models. I have concerns about the plastic becoming brittle in 5-10 years. They will tell you t wont but the same was said about the plastics used on cars.
We bought one several months ago It works a treat both on 12 volt and 240 volt .
The body plastic seems to be very durable .
We find the remote Temp guage very good there is enough wire to bring it right up to the cubby .
We also bought the Engel slide and the Engel cover.
We dont work for Engel just like their products
Cheers George & Pauline
