    MR Automotive service cost

Had Dennis serviced at MR on Friday, great service, called me twice to update me on things, had a major service, all oils etc, replacement expansion tank, replacement sterring arm, and a maxidrive rear diff plug. All in all fantastic service, $760 for this.....

And we spotted 20 Defenders in the day, a good selection of all types, nice blue 130 with tub and canopy spotted it going up and down from the GC.

    I reckon their cheap.

done right to high standards (often to best practice if you ok the money for parts) the first time.

compared to having a bodgey job done that you spend a month trying to sort out, fix up, work around or harang the shop into doing properly the second time round when you catch them out.

other than occasional parts delays or logistical screw ups I havent heard of any mechanical related guffs and I'd stake fozzy on if they have had some mistakes they definately havent had anything safety critical (like say forgetting to put the brake fluid back in during a brake bleed)

I'd be interested to hear of what you've experienced/heard.

The ragtops fine, noise is ok, but i have never been in the back whilst someone is driving it. 100% water proof, other than 4 small holes on the top, that the old bars went through, its really think canvas, a good canvas, but iam going to get a new, as i need to have a camel back box made for the back.

Thanks for the off topic responce, i want to maxinise the potential use of the 130 whilst keeping it as a daily drive i think my top has seen better days its lookin a little frail.
as i plan to crash in the back when i go camping rather than creating more drag by wacking a roof tent on top.
I noticed the camel boxes produced by nene overland seem to have a crap departure angle, or are you using the original tub as a base ?

Been to a few landrover "specialists" in SE Qld, MR win, no contest. I did the basics myself one 10K service (oil & filters)-- their cost-- $95-- unbeatable and unfaultable (so far).
