I can't think of an uglier car to drive around the world in
...at least you know that no bandits will want to car jack you in Africa
Other than that, lucky scumbags.
I can't say I've heard of this vehicle & the trip before seeing the car & a quick search on here failed to bring anything up so forgive me if this is old news.
A LHD D3 came into work yesterday for a couple of repairs & I thought it might interest my fellow AULROians.
They started off in Greece & are travelling around the world in 800 days. They've just finished their Australian leg of the trip & are heading to the US next week.
This is their website:
The World Off Road, Akis Temperidis, Voula Netou
and here's a few photos:
LR Australia knew about the trip but I'm surprised it wasn't publicised at all. If it was, it wasn't done very well.
Looking at their website though, it seems as they wanted to hang around with their fellow countrymen out here anyway.

The Disco doesn't seem to have seen much of the Aussie red dust!

Saw this vehicle in our workshop a month ago now very nice people
They came in for BFG Tyres
We couldnt sell them any as they where a size not common in Aus
is that the base model that we cannot get in Aus it looks like a manual to me
I think LRA from the top down needs a good kick up the khyber. After the dismal response I received last week regarding the 130 questions I asked and the statement:
The Land Rover Defenders exact specifications are determined by the factory after liaison with Land Rover Australia. Their aloof attitude smacks of a vast majority of company executives who have the mistaken belief that they know what is best. You have to ask, when has LRA canvassed/consulted the public about land rover vehicles. There will be a number of ridiculous suggestions, which is a given for any type of poll, but I am sure a common thread regarding genuine requirements/grizzles would become obvious and therefore provide a discussion that hopefully would reach the Land Rover heirachy in the UK. It is the old problem of communication, if you don't ask basic questions, how can you possibly know what the market requires. Anybody else care to comment?
Regards
Maggsie
I think Land Rover do a lot of market research. Thing is, enthusiasts are not their target market.
