Used to live at Avalon & had the boat moored at Pittwater. Used to do the same ... it was awesome fun. And oysters ... nothing like fresh oysters after a day of sailing. :)

I'm not very familiar with the norhern beaches of Sydney, more the industrial areas. The only Avalon I knew of is west of Melbourne.
