Grockle or Dave, do either of you have a chart or similar, demonstrating compression ratios and octane required?

your V8 should be ok on 95 RON but some recommend 98 RON, it's what you feel is best as 95 Shell,BP is much better than the supermarket fuel.

stock pump unleaded should be fine for you ian.

give it a drink of premium if you like and see what that does for it.

when I free up some time I'll break out the wash bay at work for you and degrease your engine so maybe we can find the info on it.

wish my camera was working yesterday evening .

I was watching a great sunset from the front of the house and a lightning storm from the back.

Thanks Dave and Grockle, the info I was not specificly for my car, more general, and out of interest. I have found that premium fuels used in this car only cost more for nil economy or power gains. I found the opposite to be true in a 3.8L Commodore, which has a 9.4:1 compression ratio. The Commodore would run happily on ULP (91 octane) but considerable economical gains could be found by using BP Ultimate (98 octane high density) on highway cycles.
