I thought the first diesel Sentinal wasn't until 1948 with the DV44?

The book says that they went diesel in the late 30s due to steam being taxed out of the market. It doesn't say what engine was used. The factory did not produce any trucks during the war, but contributed to the war effort making tank parts.
