Challenger- I think only two were ever made. A dedicated heavy haulage prime mover IIRC rated at 150 tons. They were fitted with a unique modern (for the time) looking conventional cab. Both were built to Brambles HH spec, with Cat power, 15 speed RR and Eaton 2 speed bogie. I don't recall but imagine the rear would have Hendrickson walking beam suspension or possabley a heavy 6 rod.
A4(?)- A general purpose truck available as an 8, 12 or 17 tonner (4x2, 6x4 or 8x4) Cat 3208 engine, 9 speed RR or optional Allison auto.
As a small, local low volume manufacturer specs could be very flexable, according to he customer's requirement. Leader built an 8x4 for a steel merchant which could carry 8 metre lengths without overhang, it was the only rigid truck able to do so within the regs of the day. I drove this truck after Mayne Nicklass took over the fleet and distribution from the merchant. I was also second choice out of 120 applicants to drive one of the Challengers after Brambles disposed of it. The new owners reconditioned mining equiptment at Wacol, south west Brisbane. I lived near Numptyville at the time, which is why I did not get the job.
