Excellent news.
I decided to splurge on an engineer who, apart from not being able to tell the difference between fibro and gyprock,

told me that, as I thought, the whole brick wall is non-loadbearing and I can take it all down. It's ten metres long with a one metre angle at the end. It'll make that section of the house more than a foot wider.
And I'll be able to reclaim all of the cedar weatherboard that are behind the bricks.
As for the hole in the wall, bought a pair of french doors that'll fit on ebay.
And then found a pair in the chuckouts at the tip.
