the ice cream waffer came about on the 3rd of June 1871 when Joseph Z Walls(96) started to run low on cones,he was reaching up to get the last box down from one of the over head selves of his 2 month of Commer ice cream van with his own designed refrigeration/heat exchanger unit only to find it empty!,looking at the beige coloured cardboard thought to himself 'could I get away buy putting my Cornish Gold Label best ice cream between two pieces of the box',telling him self 'yes',so with the sissors from his first aid kit(compulsory fitment in retailing vehicles from 5 past 10 on the 3 of Marh 1870) cut two 2"by4" rectangular 'waffers'(a very generous portion he thought)filling them with the ice cream of approx a 3/4" deep filling,so thier you have it.
