Unmarked police cars, strangest you've seen?

Still handled better than the XY GTHO's. A couple of mates had Chargers with 360's in them and one with a 440. Another mate had an AP6 Valiant with a 360 and that used to pop the front wheels off the ground.

No need to "shoehorn" a 360 into a Valiant. The 360 is the same engine family, the LA small block, as a 273, 318, 340. Differences in dimension are internal.

I once replaced a Hemi 265 in a CM wagon with a 340TA and Torqueflite. This was a surprise packet. It could pull 220 kmh with more to come but the lack of aerodynamic aids made stability a problem at those speeds.

Agreed. There is ample room for them. The 440 took a bit of work though and was a bit crowded, but apparentlly was a straight forward job. This was around 1986. Wonder what ever happend to that black Valiant AP6.
Magnificent cars an motors. Would love a Charger.

Saw a holden monaro 06-08 as a highway patrol car. I think the police had about four, the news said. Patrolling from brissie to cairns. Candy cars! Townsville police have holden astras turbo's for hoon chasing. And seen those supercharged aurions as candy cars.

Pommy Bobbies used 30" push bikes to pull over speedsters back in the '50s when the limit was 30mph, and 20mph for commercial vehicles. Most Land Rovers were then registered as commercial vehicles.

6 years ago, i spent 2 weeks driving a blue 120y doing operation based against breakers, traffic and car interference offences in SA suburb! Very succesfully I might add!!....it did have A spotlight and mags (on the back!!!)

it was road legal but still so bad inside we brought in an old car stereo from home to fit in it!!!
(had cig lighter fitting for red/blue lights!)


it was the oldest unmarked one we knew of trotting about...
(the "special" branches have all sorts of stuff we'll never hear abt!)

it was about 2 years ago running road race tyres and a half cage
the officer said they used it for hi speed pusutes in the adelaide hills due to it handleing like a gocart

I had to resurrect this thread because of the unbelievably strange unmarked cop car I saw last week on the Western Freeway in Brisbane.

...AN IVECO DAILY dual-cab utility WITH A HORSE FLOAT ATTACHED!!!
He had someone pulled over with the party lights flashing through the front grille.

Has anyone else seen this one around town too? I wonder if it was just the cops' regular mounted unit horse transport vehicle that just happened to catch someone at the time, or are they really that cunning to patrol in a commercial vehicle with a trailer?

I'd say it would be the nag patrol. ;)

About a month ago at the Whim Creek Pub near Karratha in WA, I saw a dark blue 80 series Cruiser wagon .

He passed me at about 130 while I was doing about 105 in a 110 zone. He was closely behind an old Falcon ute. the Falcon must have got sick of the tailgate and sped up.

Only on close inspection could you see the red and blues in the rear window.
