No, the other way. The 4.6 has the best of the bores that are in that engine, but they run the same block as the 4.0, just with the same bores that are at the thicker end of things. The extra 600cc is from a longer throw crank into the 4.0 block.

I'd be thinking more along the lines of the last 3.5's which have a smaller bore and hopefully thicker bore walls, and I think (but needs to be confirmed) they had a better setup bottom end also for durability.

if its has more HP, it will use more Fuel.... HP is not free.. you need to feed it...

Turbo's and supercharger should not use more if you dont drive it harder than a granny..... not a Top gear Granny either... a Coles Carpark to Cards granny

Turbo fans, have this "theory", that a supercharger takes HP to make HP and a turbo is like free HP, because its not driven off the crank

Try adding a blockage to your exhaust and see how it goes:D

Thanks for the pics.So you need to put more fuel in when you put more air in for a turbo charger?I thought a turbo works more like cold air induction,you dont need to put in more fuel for that?Or would it make the engine run to lean without the extra fuel?

Ahhh, you really need to do some reading:)

You'll need different engine management, with timing control, likely uprated injectors, to compensate for boost pressure

Not cold air induction, its forced induction;)

Your dad has some sage words there.

Yes we can put blowers or turbo's on motors and yes they cost an arm and a leg, we can also put a bigger engine in to do the same job with out stressing the hell out of the motor (which also costs an arm and a leg).

Now no matter which way you go you are going to stress the rest of the drive train - you hear about landys having weak axles. That is the problem if you upgrade the engine you are closer to it's design limits so more bits can break easier.

So then we fit stronger axles, bugger the gear box cant take it now so we fit a stronger gear box etc etc

Modifying 4wds is an addiction, usually it comes from when we do break something, we replace it with a stronger part and it goes on from there. If I could afford it I would put a 4.6 in with a centrifical blower to replace my 3.9i, in my view the centrifical blower is the best of both worlds. Trouble is, for the money that would cost I could put in a gen III 6lt which has more power and cheaper to get parts for????

Probably a good thing I cant afford it yet.
