thats about how I did it but I didnt bother with the spalsh shield.
look at the bottom of the dizzy and you'll find a couple of holes. some cheap aquarium air hose plugs in nicely and lets you remote the breather.
OK, so maybe waterproof is a bit far fetched but splashproof?
Its a two part splash guard.
dizzy = distributor, (its a pommy thing)
Pics taken with phone so not the best.
*Mark all your leads before you begin, I didn't
First part:
I saw rubber dizzy covers from the local landy dealers for $70
I think not.
I got a thick rubber glove, (thicker than kitchen gloves not as thick as builders) and pushed two ignition leads through each finger, (end cut off). Its a tight fit to get the lead boots through but with a bit of fiddling its do-able.
Once they are through and the HT lead through the thumb the wrist bit of the glove is streached over the whole dizzy cap and the fingers are lightly cable tied around the leads.
The excess rubber on each finger is pushed between pair of leads before I cable tied them together. If you look close at the pics you can see what I mean.
I didnt bother with a tie around the dizzy base as its quite a snug fit.
I repeated the process with the coil, HT lead and power.
Second Part:
Thats the top from a 2L coke bottle.
You need the top cone of the bottle, cut out the bottle cap and screw then about 1/3rd down the bottle cut again. You will now have a tube.
Cut down the tube so it can open out.
Turn the flat "tube" upside down so the curved bit of the bottle scoops under the dizzy.
Cut sides, corners or what ever away to form a close-ish fit.
Mark the four corners and make holes, cable tie in place.
Thats it !
Not posh, not stylish but I hope it works
If you have any tips on waterproofing/splashguard for the ignition lead/spark plug connection I'm all ears.
