takes about 3 hrs doimg speed limit :( not that the defender does much more:D
theres a full stop in there........towards the end.........
most mechanics will always fill the oil to just over the full mark.......
always in a hurry......they just keep adding oil till its up to the full mark......
but by the time it all runs down to the sump......its over by a cup or two.......
customers are happiest when their oil is over the full mark rather than under.........
the ideal oil level is between full and 3/4 full......as the oil heats up and expands...it will be at the correct level......
and this will also help reduce oil leaks as the level isnt over the seals......
Shad, I take it you have a 300tdi?
We have a graduated fill bottle for these and 7 litres is what we usually get in . If left overnight it may be about 3mm over the line, but isn't a problem. We NEVER change the oil on any diesel without a new filter.
8.3 IS way too much, he may have been looking at the Td5 specs, which is 8 litres with both filters changed.
