Chainsaws again

Try changing the fuel just in case, though a month old should be OK. Try tossing fuel direct into the cylinder. With no choke if it runs for more than a split second you've probably got a fuel problem. I've got an old Canadien 26" and it only starts this way but keeps running till the tank runs out. It's so heavy that this is quite long enough. Have a look into the air inlet and the exhaust so make sure they are not blocked. Wasps tend to make nests in these areas which will give you the symptoms you've got.

Then again it's a good excuse ti get a new one. :):)

I'm sure mine has been updated with electronic ignition and spark was not an issue when it last did this. Usually fixed with a new plug. It is a cranky saw, goes like a charm when it wants to and is stubborn when it wants to be as now. Flooding seems to happen after a number of pulls (insert witty barb here:p). As far as cleanliness of fuel system etc, all seems to be fine although it could do with a new air filter, which I have.

Was looking at Husky's a month or so back......Model 440E or equivalent Stihl around $750+ Fire wood cutting for self and general yard work. Any thoughts welcome.

But have you tried aerostart yet?:D

Do you have Mud Wasps you are?
I've seen them make their nests inside the muffler and give a similar sounding symptom. They take a bit of getting out too.

I will check for them but it is the wrong season, they are usually around in the warm weather. Of course, Qld doesn't actually get cold,;) but the mud wasps are more spring and summer.

Second that - I always do this when starting mine.

Fuel prob if you have spark & compression, you can take the muffler off, clean out the exhaust port & spark arrestor then u can squirt the aerostart in there;). If it starts & stops as others have said, blocked vent or filter ,split or blocked fuel lines, shonky carb. Another remote possability is intermitant spark.
