I remember the slight controversy when Toyota named their badge-engineered version of the VN Commodore. Apparently they were going to name it "Admiral", because that was a step up from a "Commodore". After pressure was applied by Holden they came up with a new name: Lexcen. Named in honour after the late famed designer of the America's Cup winning Australia II, talented marine engineer Ben Lexcen, this cloned Toyota version had nothing more of inspiration other than model badges to distinguish it from the original. The ad spruiks, "Be a little bit different". Oh, the irony.
