Q: You might want to set a reserve as I saw this hammer being used by David Soul on an episode and Starsky and Hutch. It was the one where Huggy bear was trying it on with the lead singer from Boney M. Either that or it was the murder weapon in Columbo I think. Or maybe it was Quincy. regards Aldridge Prior 20-Apr-13
A: Hi bigkeeko, Interesting advice sir, but I wish you'd told me earlier, there are bids on it now so I'm unable to revise the listing, I would have placed a reserve on it. I'm not sure if you're correct regarding its big screen history, but I do have it on good authority that it was used in the early 70's by Border TV's very own Derek Batey! to construct (in solid Balsa wood, Gloy glue and sellotape no less) the entire set of "Mr & Mrs, So remember...."Be nice to each other" best regards.
Q: Hi, I'm a highly skilled neurosurgeon and the electric hammer I use at work simply isn't big enough. Is the flex on this hammer long enough for me to achieve a full extent haymaker style swing? to assist you in your calculations, I'm 4 ft 2 inch tall and wear correction shoes. 20-Apr-13
A: Hello there malkenmedical, I feel I'm talking to a brother here, for I too am at this very time a fully qualified milkman currently undertaking a correspondence course in (Very) highly skilled neurosurgery. I would suggest you wait a few days, as I'm about to list a 24v rechargeable self trepanning divice. which as I'm sure you know, would obviate the need for a longer flex and also the haymaker style swing, a simple Suzy Q would suffice. The height issue is of no consequence, but the corrective shoe thing may earth out the electronics resulting in "serious death!" as we in the medical trade call it, regards.
Q: I can't help but notice that the cord has been repaired! Is this safe? has it passed a PAT test recently? 20-Apr-13
A: Perfectly safe marky, The bared wires were all very tightly twisted together (with my own fingers) ,black to blue, green to green and yellow and red to brown I think, or was it red to green and then all taped together very tightly with best quality co-op sellotape, I may have mentioned earlier that this item was manufactured before PAT testing came in, so is no risk whatsoever, remember, always stay safe like me!
Q: Just curious about the clearance needed around the head of the hammer when in use, thinking of using it to nail on my double barrel mudflaps but think the head may swing back and hit my straight through glove box, do you think I'll have an interference issue? Many thanks. 19-Apr-13
A: Hello Hellfire, Absolutely not, I've used it a couple of times for just that very job, hammer head clearance is not an issue with this tool, but be careful of the kick back from the rear claw, it's lethal if it dries out, it'll have yer eye out! SO TAKE CARE!!
Q: Hi, Does this hammer come with its original instructions? as a quick search of the internet has only found the cheap Japanese copies and my Japanese is not very good. Also how long is the flex as i need to use it on the roof and that's quite high but my sockets are just above the skirting. Thanks MH. 19-Apr-13
A: Hi MH, Yes, I do have in my possession the original instructions, but they're in Sumerian Sanskrit and you would need the Egyptian Rosetta Stone to decipher them. The hammers own electric lead is only a few feet long, I do have the original extension lead which gives you at least an extra 2 foot 3 inches. I'm no electrician, but I would think your best bet by far would be to wire in an electric socket inside of the guttering (face up of course) where it can't be seen from the wainscotting, I hope I've been of some help, Regards. PS, forget the cheap Japanese copies, they're on rice paper, go for the expensive ones instead!
Q: was it you selling sparks for a 9" grinder ???? if so do you still have them 19-Apr-13
A: Hello bdpp, WHAT!!!....,ME.... SELLING SPARKS!!... ON EBAY! Now that's just being silly and is simply ridiculous!... They were for a 7" grinder as you well know and thee finest sparks available anywhere....9" grinder sparks indeed! what do you take me for? regards.
Q: Is this left or right-handed? 19-Apr-13
A: Hi -curiosity57, I think I may have answered your question when replying to an earlier posting, but just in case you never saw it, it is left handed, but I think the plug may be right handed.
Q: would you consider a pigeon spanner as part exchange,as that hammer is the same colour as my wifes eyes. 19-Apr-13
A: Hello goody, Thanks for the interest, Yes, I always consider everything before refusing!!
Q: I say sirrah, this looks like a device that could be harmful to the uninitiated, have you undertaken the correct risk assessment procedures linked to Health and Safety? Having flunkies removed from the escalating soul glut by errant hammers is just so wrong dont you know. Chunkolini POD. 19-Apr-13
A: Hi metally1, That's easy for you to say! This was made before health and safety regulations came in, so is perfectly safe. regards.
Q: i hace 2 questions please is this left or right handed and as i would like to use it for work can you confirm if it has been pat tested 19-Apr-13
A: Hello dodgydiver, It has been Pat tested by Megger Pat 450, but it is right handed only, although as luck would have it I do have a left hand converter glove you can have cheap if you wish (They're very rare).
Q: Hi is it variable speed? 19-Apr-13
A: Thanks for the interest v8arod, Yes, but it depends if you're in a hurry, it does the quarter in the low eights and that's fast!!
Q: HI, I've just bought a 3D printer. If I win the item can you please scan it and email me the image to save me the cost of the postage? Thanks 19-Apr-13
A: No problem mikes4360, in fact you've given me an idea, I'll get one myself and 3D print a few dozen off!!! as for yours, I've scanned it whilst in the envelope for security purposes,
Q: i have a couple of questions, would this item require a PAT test, and i cannot see an off and on switch, i would also like to know if this is similar to my wife's electric tool she uses for pleasure, im thinking it could be used to bash the bishop, thank you for your time 19-Apr-13
A: I think my previous answer to brightspark answers that question imnobloodyfool, These hammers never had an on-off switch, they're just an optional extra for soft southerners. As for your second question.Toooooooorisky!!!
Q: hi is it class one or 2 double insulated and has it got current pass test cert 19-Apr-13
A: Have no fear brightspark, it's class 3 triple insulated and pat tested by a Megger Pat 450!
Q: Hello southwold1941, Bless you for bringing back so many memories, many was the time when we used to use a hammer just like the one you have listed, for nailing up the perpendicular sixpence machines, and of course the racking for the workers isometric banana jackets, ahh happy times, alas never to return, but I digress, the reason I got in touch was to offer you, or your lucky winner the chance to buy from me, the adapter so you can use the newer negative earth nails as well, bringing a whole new meaning to the true versatility of this fantastic tool. Best regards, Dr. ray diation. 15-Apr-13
A: Thank you Dr Ray Diation, And I don't have to be an old air force rear Admiral to know by your knowledge of isometric banana jackets that you worked on or flew Spitfires during the Boar war! Ahh yes, that old 13 cylinder radial diesel 2 stroke German Merlin engine roar with tripple underhead slipper camshafts (as you know, the isometric banana jackets or IBJ's as we experts call them, were made and used to inhibit crank wobble at revs exceeding 30,000). Thank you for the offer of the negative earth nail adapter. I didn't know they made one (it's not Japanese is it?). Regarding the "perpendicular sixpence machines," Well! do you really think you can catch me out that way Dr, you and I both know they only ever made perpendicular nine-penny bit machines! and they never sold many, Regards Ricky.
