Back in the early 80's I was working in a petrol station(one that had a workshop) when a ZH fairlane pulled in for petrol. When he went to leave the car would not move. It turned out that the rear disk had worn through to the ribs and the pad had jammed it.
The car had a loud sound system and the owner never heard any noise. Being a rear disc there would have been no possible tell tale signs through the steering.
