So it can fly from one end of the runway to the other? He could have driven it there in the same time...:wasntme:
Just kidding - that is one of the better solutions I have seen someone come up with yet. Biggest problem I see with a flying car is the overlap of aviation and automobile standards. Will it comply with all car crash tests and codes AND all aviation regs at the same time? Then you have to pay 2 lots of rego, and have 2 licences for it.
Great idea, but will it ever 'take off' so to speak...
More right rudder.
There have been flying cars that actually flew and drove on the road since at least the 1940s. Probably the most successful was the Taylor Aerocar. There appear to have been six made, and at least one is claimed to be still airworthy.
But as commented above - there are serious difficulties; both the plane and the pilot have to meet all the requirements for both road and aviation red tape, and perhaps even more daunting is that much of the payload as an aircraft will be used to carry round the bits necessary for road work. While technological advances may make it more feasible, it is difficult to see a time when such a vehicle will have sufficient advantages over a conventional car plus plane to be worth buying by more than a tiny handful of people. These same advances will make both cars and planes cheaper and/or better, so the gap will still be just as big between a hybrid and either a plane or a car.

An oldie, but I don't recall seeing it on here...

A 1st grade school teacher had twenty-six students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the 1st half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are first-graders, 6-year-olds, because the last one is a classic!
