Have no recollection of them in the 50 but plenty carried through to the 60s.
The saving stamps was one I can remember well from the UK (green shield stamps I think). Dad used to be with armoured recovery in the army, I can remember him coming home with books of stamps, you used to get quite a few filling up a centurion tank and an Antar carrier :D.

Was driving double decker buses in the U.K
In the early 6os
When with a mighty crash and bang a large
Army tank transporter tore the side out of
The bus which caused me a lot of angst cause
The paperwork of a accident in a 70 seater bus
Was horrific anyhow I leapt outa the cab and
Was going to have serious words about this
And the old Instructor looked me in the eye
And said settle down laddie you are the third one
We have hit this morning and took the wind right outa me sails

Daktari was an American children's drama series that aired on CBS between 1966 and 1969.
