We have a 1.5t magnet at work. We also have a paper clip attached to a large cable tie. It is amazing the pull on the paper clip when you start to get close to the magnet.
There have been some deaths in the USA of people doing the wrong things within the MRI room. One is when a nurse decided to take a O2 bottle into the room, with a patient on the couch- The patient did not survive.
There were also pictures floating around of a floor polisher stuck to a MRI.
O2 bottle?
While hardly fatal, this one often gets an interesting reaction when I show it to my students. Fellow playing with a couple of fist sized neodynium magnets, gave one a nudge and it lauched itself towards its partner. Dirk managed to get his hand in there to try and stop it.
