    17cm wave

    Turned out there was a tsunami generated but only 17cm high.

    Earthquake made headlines over here obviously. 2 good aftershocks so far.

    For those interested go to www.geonet.org.nz or GeoNet – Recent New Zealand Earthquakes for details of the quake. Pretty big and quite shallow at 7.8 and 12km deep.

    ... I hope not , i am on the east coast mind you i am 400m above sea leaval... we can see the beach from our place! (be it very small) so it would be nice to bring it cloeser


    But in all seriousness im glad we are all ok as the news lady read "a 12cm wave" clearly a miss print otherwise any ants on the beach miiiiiiight be in trouble

    Suddenly you have valueable beach front property.
    Hope it does not happen here as the house we are renting is only 80 metres from the beach.
